We recognise that the trust placed in us by Helpers, Households, and Agents is fundamental to the operation of our services, and we are committed to processing personal data in a lawful, fair, and transparent manner in accordance with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 and applicable regulations.
This Privacy Policy describes in detail the types of personal data we collect, the manner in which such data is used, disclosed, and safeguarded, and the rights available to users in relation to their personal data.
By accessing or using the Mdadda platform (the "Platform"), including our mobile applications, websites, and related services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
2. Overview
Mdadda operates a multisided digital platform designed to provide training, certification, and marketplace services within the domestic services sector. The Platform enables;
Helpers to access training, obtain certification, and connect with employment opportunities
Households to identify, evaluate, and engage domestic workers; and intermediaries ("Agents") to facilitate onboarding, matching, and placement processes.
In delivering these services, Mdadda processes personal data as a Data Controller, and in certain contexts may also process data on behalf of agents or other parties.
3. Personal Data We Collect
We collect personal data in a number of ways depending on how you interact with the Platform, including information you provide directly, information collected automatically, and information obtained from third parties.
3.1 Data You Provide
This includes identity data (name, ID/passport, date of birth), contact data (phone number, email, address), professional data (skills, certifications, work history) and profile content (photos, documents, user submitted information).
3.2 Data Collected Automatically
When you use the Platform, we collect device and technical information, login and usage data, interaction data (matching activity, course participation) and location data (service areas and geographic zones).
3.3 Data from Third Parties
We may receive data from agents uploading helper or household profiles, verification providers (background checks) and publicly available or lawfully obtained sources.
3.4 Sensitive Personal Data
Where required, we process identification documents, background verification data and profile images.
Such data is processed only where explicit consent is obtained or permitted under applicable law.
4. How We Use Personal Data
Mdadda processes personal data for purposes including;
4.1 Provision of platform services
We use data to create and manage user accounts, deliver training and certification services, enable matching between helpers, households, and agents and facilitate payments and transactions.
4.2 Communication between users
We use data to allow communication between helpers, households, and agents, coordination of placements and services and support and customer service interactions.
4.3 Ensure safety, trust, and platform integrity
We use data to verify identity and qualifications, detect and prevent fraud, enforce platform rules and agreements and investigate complaints and disputes.
4.4 Improve and develop the platform
We use data to analyse performance and user behavior, improve matching algorithms and enhance user experience.
4.5 Comply with legal obligations
We process data where necessary to comply with applicable laws, respond to regulatory requests and enforce contractual rights.
5. Lawful Basis for Processing
We rely on consent, contractual necessity, and legitimate interests as lawful bases for processing personal data, ensuring such interests are balanced against user rights.
6. Sharing and Disclosure of Personal Data
We may share personal data;
6.1 Within the platform ecosystem
With other platform users that is between helpers, households, and agents and where necessary for matching and placement
6.2 With service providers
Including payment processors, cloud hosting providers and analytics and support providers.
6.3 With affiliates and business partners
Where necessary to operate the Platform and support service delivery.
6.4 For legal and regulatory purposes
We may disclose data where required by law to regulators or law enforcement and to enforce agreements or protect rights.
6.5 In business transfers
In connection with mergers, acquisitions and restructuring or sale of assets subject to appropriate safeguards.
6.6 Agent-uploaded data
Where an agent uploads personal data, the agent confirms lawful collection and consent, Mdadda processes such data within the platform and that Mdadda may remove data where compliance is unclear.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary, including up to seven (7) years for account and transactional data, longer where required for certification verification, and limited periods for analytics data.
We may retain data longer where required for legal claims, fraud prevention or enforcement of rights.
8. Data Security
Mdadda implements appropriate technical and organisational measures, including access controls, encryption, secure storage, and monitoring systems, to safeguard personal data.
9. Your Rights
Users have rights under the Kenya Data Protection Act, including right to access your personal data, request correction, request deletion (subject to limitations), object to processing and request data portability.
